Skin electronics was a Fabricademy assignment that explored how to integrate electronics with our skin, taught by Katia Vega. In this assignment, I made a circuit involving conductive ‘lipstick’ and an LED. The more you press your lips together, the brighter the LED lights up. The design was inspired by Lady Gaga make-up (ca. 2008) and was adapted so that the mouth was connected to the eye.
For the materials, I used graphite putty for the lipstick (washable and skin safe), eyelash adhesive gel and MAC foundation and eyeliner. For hardware, I used LilyPad Arduino USB, Adafruit Flex Perma-Proto – Half-sized Breadboard Flex-PCB, headphone wires, and a coin cell battery.
